A
thoroughly unique experience modeled after Suzanne
Yates' shiatsu-based hands-on training through Well
Mother, in combination with the wealth of insights
transferred through the hands-on training I received
from the founder of Earth Mother Aromatherapy,
blended together with my own personal experience as
both a birth partner and a pregnant woman, 3x over.
....Yes, I have three young sons who were all
birthed naturally here in Ireland using essential
oils, visualisations, affirmations, faith, the TENS
gadget and Etonox (gas and air).
Whether
you desire a purely relaxing massage or require therapeutic
assistance in restoring your health, my commitment
to professionalism guarantees that you will enjoy
compassion, support, and respect in tandem with an
effective, dynamic and safe treatment plan.
DIFFERENT
EVERY TIME : The Pregnancy Massage sequence &
positioning & technique always changes, is trimester
dependent, and depends upon the mother-to-be, what
ails her at the moment.
You
can be confident that the techniques used in each month or trimester of pregnancy will be suitable,
safe, and appropriate, conforming to your needs and condition.
Being pregnant changes everything.
The
comfort & safety of you, the mother, and your developing baby are paramount.
Women
having their 1st baby will receive extra support.
All
of the following positions bring relief to most pregnant women and can be used in pregnancy massage per request:
Draped over a beanbag or couch cushions
Semi-sitting
position - Propped Up & Supported
Left
Lateral Lie - the very best position; optimum circulation
is accomplished
Leaning
over a pregnancy ball while kneeling - oh so relaxing!
Leaning
over a chair back or against a solid wall
Right
Lateral Lie - a great finishing position
On
All-Fours position - Sheer Relief when the load is
heavy
Logistics:
Pregnant women after their 4th-month are
generally more comfortable being massaged on a cosy,
thick pile of duvets layered over wide, well-padded
floor mats augmented by ample pillows and supports
of all sizes. Exceptions, of course, exist and these
individuals may opt to be massaged on the massage
table.

With the Birthing Ball... Here's What You Have to Gain:
Conditioning
- Gentle exercise on the birthing ball during
pregnancy can strengthen the abdominal "pushing" muscles,
as well as the lower-back muscles that, in turn minimises
back pain.
Physical
Relief - Kneeling over the ball can ease back
strain and encourage the baby to settle into an optimal
position. It adapts to your needs, offering
you much needed relief.
Comfort
- Especially during the last few weeks of pregnancy,
the ball is often more comfortable & easier to get
onto & off of than a chair or bed.
Relaxation
- The birthing ball can be used for massage, resting
at home, and
practicing birth positions.
Comfort
& Convenience is Only the Beginning...
Other Benefits of the Ball may include...
Alignment
- Sitting on the ball helps keep baby properly
aligned in the pelvis.
Assistance
- The ball works with gravity to aid baby's descent
into the pelvis.
Movement
- The birthing ball encourages pelvic mobility,
easing tension.
Relaxation
- Sitting on warm compresses placed upon the ball
eases pelvic floor aches & helps relax the pelvic
floor.
Natural
Rhythm - The birthing ball allows a natural back
and forth swaying movement that encourages the relaxation
of muscles used during labour, can reduce pain and
stress.
Dilation
- The ball may speed up dilation & effacement,
improving your labour's progress.
Readjustment
- The birthing ball also encourages position changing
during labour (rocking the pelvis, shifting weight,
etc).
Support
- By reducing stress on the hands and wrists,
the birthing ball can enable you to remain longer
in the hands and knees position during labour.
